I have nothing against Aaron Rowand. It's not his fault that at this stage in his career, he's not a very good hitter. The blame mostly lies on the general manager that gave him this excessive contract, and the man that still believes he can be a valuable offensive contributor. This blog is more critical of the front office's decisions than Aaron Rowand himself. Nothing would make me happier than to see Aaron Rowand start hitting well. Will it happen? Probably not. But in the time being, I would just like to see the Giants management give us fans the impression that they are trying their best to win games. This means putting their best players out on the field every night.
Aaron Rowand is not one of our top 8 hitters. Bengie Molina is not one of our top 8 hitters. What they bring in defense and experience will still be there, but their replacements are more than adequate at this point. If I managed the Giants...
CF: Torres
2B: Sanchez
C: Posey
1B: Huff
SS: Uribe
3B: Sandoval
LF: Burrell
RF: Schierholtz
or if Renteria comes back healthy...

But that's just me. No Molina. No Rowand.
